Job Title:  Parent Support Advisor/Wellbeing Mentor

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated Parent Support Advisor/Wellbeing Mentor to join our school team.

Moorside is a welcoming and inclusive primary school and nursery committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and ready to learn. We believe strong partnerships with families are essential to children’s success, particularly for our most vulnerable pupils.

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled and proactive Parent Support Advisor and Wellbeing Mentor to join our pastoral team and play a key role in supporting children and families across our nursery and primary phases.

The Role:

This is a dual-focused role combining family support with direct pupil wellbeing intervention. You will:

  • Act as a key point of contact for parents and carers, particularly those of vulnerable pupils.
  • Provide early help and targeted support to families experiencing challenges.
  • Deliver emotional wellbeing and mentoring support to identified children.
  • Work closely with safeguarding, SEND and attendance leads to remove barriers to learning.
  • Strengthen home–school relationships and promote positive engagement.

You will work as part of a committed safeguarding and inclusion team, ensuring that children receive coordinated, holistic support.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children and families in a school, early years, social care or community setting.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and child development (including early years).
  • Experience supporting vulnerable pupils, including those with SEND, SEMH needs or attendance difficulties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy, discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in family support, counselling, education, early years, youth work or a related field are desirable.

All appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

The post is a permanent position to start as soon as possible.  The hours will be 36 hours per week, with a half hour lunch break, term time only, plus 5 days as follows:

Monday – 8.30am – 3.30pm

Tuesday – 7.45am – 4.15pm

Wednesday – 7.45am – 3.30pm

Thursday – 7.45am – 3.30pm

Friday – 8.30am – 4.00pm

23½ hours for the PSA role will be on Grade H, Point 18 and 12½ hours for the Wellbeing Mentor role on Grade E, Point 7.
