- 'Good' Ofsted Report 2023 - Moorside Primary School and Nursery

Our School Day

The school day begins at 8.50am.

Please ensure your child is at school by this time in order to avoid disruption for your child and the start of the lesson.

Children settle into school through an early morning task during the register. Registers are completed at 9.00am.

If you arrive after 9.10am the gates into school will be locked and you will need to enter school from the Lead Lane/Harrogate Road entrance. An adult must bring the child to the office and sign their child in.  You will be asked about the reason for the lateness, as this needs to be recorded.

Children have lunch between 11.45am and 1.00pm.

Lunchtime follows a 20/20/20 model: -20 minutes having lunch, -20 minutes free play -20 minutes structured play, coordinated by our Midday Supervisors.

The school day ends at 3.15pm for children in Reception and Key Stage 1 and 3.20pm for Key Stage 2.

Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 attend school for 32 hours per week and children in Key Stage 2, 32.5 hours per week.

All children from Reception to Y5 should be collected by a named adult – Y6 children only are permitted to walk home. All children should attend school in line with the school Attendance Policy.

Collecting children at the end of the day

Please be prompt collecting your child at the end of the day. School finishes at 3.15pm for Reception and KS1 children (Years 1 and 2) and 3.20pm for KS2 children (Years 3 – 6). Children get very anxious if you are late. If another adult is to collect your child either temporarily or permanently, please inform the school office.  Your child’s teacher will not release your child to adults who are not listed in our records for collection. If for any reason you are unavoidably delayed please contact the school office with details of who will collect your child.

We cannot guarantee that staff will be able to supervise children after 3:30pm. Please ensure that emergency telephone numbers and contact names for your child are up to date at all times.

If you need to collect your child from school during the day for an appointment please come to the school office where you will be asked to sign that you have collected your child. A member of staff will collect your child from their class.

Please avoid making appointments during the school day. Any time missed from lessons makes it difficult for your child to keep up with their learning.
