"The behaviour of pupils is good. They have respect and care for each other, and display excellent manners."

- 'Good' Ofsted Report 2023 - Moorside Primary School and Nursery

Our School

In April 2019, Moorside Infant and Junior schools amalgamated to become Moorside Primary School and Nursery.  This arrangement has ensured that good practice is shared and children experience a consistent education throughout their time at Moorside.

The school is based on the south side of the historical city of Ripon and serves the local community to the west of Harrogate Road.

Built in the 1960s the school building is undergoing an extensive refurbishment to improve our well resourced, stimulating and challenging learning environment, where children are nurtured. Our grounds are extensive with mature trees, wildlife areas, forest school areas, an orchard, raised beds, two large playgrounds and two well-equipped fenced areas for our children in early years.

Our classes are arranged into single year groups, with one class per year from Reception to Year 6.  We have our own Nursery taking children from the age of 3 and also offer wrap around care before and after school.

Reading at Moorside "I think the teachers are doing a fantastic job with reading. I believe the access children have to other forms e.g. Reading Plus etc means they are less likely to be bored and then choose to read a book as entertainment".
