Governing Board

June 2019 Governors are the largest group of Volunteers in the UK. The statutory core roles of the Governing Board are:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
  2. Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
Our Governing Board currently consists of seven members: Co-opted Governors are appointed by the Governing Board for their particular skill(s) and/or expertise. The Governing Board may also appoint Associate Governors for a particular project or for their skill(s) and/or expertise. Newly appointed Governors will be an Associate Governor until they have participated in Governor training / education to enable them to understand the role and its remit. Associate Governors cannot vote. Please see the Governor Profile document for further information about the Governors. This Governing Board does not have any committees: all Governors attend all meetings. Governors may work independently or serve on Panels. Governors have specific roles / links to enable them to monitor the effectiveness of the School Improvement Plan on all the factors relevant to the School and the education provision for the children. The Governors Annual Statement will give you an outline / summary of our previous Academic year’s work.  The Members Profile and the Structure Chart will give you more information regarding the Governing Board members; their remit and how The Governing Board is organised. The Governing Board Minutes (exempting the Confidential Minutes) will be published on the school website: they can only be published when agreed / approved at the following meeting. Please ask at the school office if you require a hard copy of any policy / information on our website: there is no charge for this. Contact myself or the other Governors if you have any queries or would just like to meet / chat with us. Governors will try to attend school events as these are important and a good way to meet you. On a personal note, I look forward to meeting you. Chris Lea, Chair Of Governors.
